Dane Elkins
Missing person from California.
Has light-colored eyes.
Would now be 24 years old.
Dane Elkins went missing on December 21, 2020. He was last seen in the Grapevine area of Castaic, California, near the I-5 Freeway and Templin Highway. His car was found abandoned with a flat tire, but he was nowhere to be found. His wallet, cellphone, and computer were left inside the vehicle.
Before his disappearance, Dane Elkins was studying computer engineering and mechanical engineering at UC Santa Cruz.
Like his father, Dane was a champion racquetball player. He won 23 national racquetball titles. He also had a black belt in karate.
Dane’s mother, Deborah Elkins, has said that her son was suffering from paranoia and mental distress due to the COVID-19 pandemic. She launched a social media campaign to find him.
Local blogs in the months immediately after his disappearance reported that Dane Elkins wanted to distance himself from his family, particularly his mother who raised him to be a vegan athlete. Before he went missing, she had called the police to do a welfare check on him (supposedly, she was worried he was trying marijuana and other drugs with his new friends in college) and that upset him greatly. He called her about it and asked why she did it. After his disappearance, a private investigator hired by his mother said that Dane Elkins did in fact go missing voluntarily.
