Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro (D) said at a news conference that some reactions to the killing have been “deeply disturbing.”

“I understand people have real frustrations with the health-care system,” Shapiro said. “In some dark corners, this killer is being hailed as a hero. He is no hero.”

Shapiro urged the public to “humanize” the victim, Brian Thompson, and condemn the killer’s actions.

Luigi Mangione had spent several days in Pennsylvania, traveling between Philadelphia and Pittsburgh with stops in between, such as in Altoona, Pa., where he was taken into custody, Gov. Josh Shapiro (D) said at a news conference.
