On X, an account appearing to belong to Luigi Mangione frequently replied to posts discussing philosophy, psychology and evolutionary biology with thoughts and critiques.
On April 30, the account replied to a post about the destructive potential of technology with a quote from the 1932 dystopian novel “Brave New World,” in which humans rights are determined by a strict hierarchy and an all-powerful state maintains control using drugs and technology.
“But I don’t want comfort. I want God, I want poetry, I want real danger, I want freedom, I want goodness. I want sin,” the quote reads.
In another reply, posted Jan. 24, the account shared what appears to be a screenshot of a post from the question-and-answer site Quora. “Those who feel strong aversion to adjusting to a mal-adjusted society are deemed mentally ill, alcoholics, substance abusers or slackers,” the original Quora post said.
